To my knowledge William Shakespeare didn’t visit Samoa. None of his plays were set here. There is a tea towel in a shop in Apia. It is part of a series of tea towels celebrating Samoa’s renowned writers. The first in the series celebrates Robert Louis Stevenson.  I hope it is a series of one, because I can’t think who the others might be. [read more]

Pigs and Crocodiles

The other week I moved to a rented house in Apia. It is in an ideal position. Right opposite the best ice cream shop in Apia. It is walking distance to a great snorkelling spot and an easy walk to town. There are four or five reasonably good restaurants within walking distance as well. [read more]

Many years ago – 1976 I think – I was offered the lead role in a show in Melbourne. The show wasn’t a musical, but my role did have a few songs. When I was offered the part I told the director that I couldn’t sing. He wasn’t concerned. [read more]
